The head-butt (captured here in GIF form) happened shortly after Walker lost his helmet, drawing a 15-yard personal foul penalty. Walker called the head-butt “bush league” after the game and was upset with the fact that Walden wasn’t ejected from the game.
Walden, 28, was signed by the Colts to a four-year deal worth $16 million during the 2017 offseason, but has tallied just two sacks in 10 starts for the team. A sixth-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, Walden had short stints with the Cowboys and Chiefs before spending extended time with both the Dolphins and Packers.
The suspension of Walden will likely mean the first career start for Colts first-rounder Bjoern Werner. The rookie has tallied 0.5 sacks in seven games, after missing some time earlier in the year with a foot injury.
We like the leap, but it’s hard to deny the safety concerns, particularly for the long snapper who can’t see defenders jumping over him. The players’ union pushed hard to ban leaps on field goal and extra point attempts, and it seems like the competition committee will listen to them.
So while players like Bobby Wagner and Kam Chancellor, among others, got cool highlight-reel plays, it’s entirely possible that the leap will be a thing of the past sooner rather than later.
Clint Dempsey and Christian Pulisic were the stars of the show on Friday night, putting up truly dominant showings. Dempsey scored a hat trick, while Pulisic scored one of his own Patriots Cheap Jerseys while being the USMNT’s primary creative outlet.
